Google Arts & Culture’s Malian odyssey

Continuing its collaboration with cultural institutions and artists from around the world, Google has released this engaging mixed-media film directed by Axel Digoix. 

Mali Magic follows the renowned musician and his taxi-bike as he travels across the country to the sounds of his song Howkouna. 

Performed by more than 10 different musicians throughout Mali, the music is enhanced by Digoix’s masterful blend of live action and richly hued animation, creating a harmonious blend of sound and vision that captures the country's colourful spirit. 

Axel Digoix had already directed two video clips in 2D for the acclaimed Malian group Tinariwen, so this new project came as a natural continuation for him.
