Continuing the Always Like Never Before platform, created by McCann London, this year’s dazzling Wimbledon trailer takes viewers on an evocative rollercoaster ride through a series of frozen-in-time moments from previous Championships.
It was helmed by multi-disciplinary director Carl Addy, through Mayda Creative, and re-imagines archive material, built by creative VFX studio Daydreamer. Addy employed a mixture of match footage, advanced 3D animation, CGI and photography to revisit historic Wimbledon high points from angles never seen before in broadcast.
Opening with last year’s epic gentlemen’s singles final, where 20-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz defeated seven-time Wimbledon champ Novak Djokovic, it goes on to capture Serena Williams’ awewome power, Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid’s five successive Wimbledon wins in the wheelchair doubles, Roger Federer’s brilliance across the years, along with triumphant moments from Tokito Oda, Andy Murray and Marketa Vondrousova.
The film is enhanced by an exhilarating soundtrack by Tom Player, composer of notable scores including Games of Thrones.
