Many of us suffering from enduring lockdown blues might feel we well know what isolation is. But imagine being cut off from your actual planet, let alone your community, when your job requires the ultimate in travelling for work.

This cinematic film created by Brazilian agency AlmapBBDO and directed by Ian Ruschel, with Gabriel & Quemuel, through Iconoclast, is an optimistic musing on the joy a space traveller feels on re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere.

Titled Astronaut, it alludes to our hope that easier days will return, particularly when we can enjoy unconfined minglings with our fellow Earthlings.

The spot recalls sensual pleasures of embracing loved ones or frolicking on the beach with chums, and the deep bliss of clinking a glass of something warming, in a huddle, inside – yes ACTUALLY INSIDE – a bar. All these simple things that we once maybe took for granted, but now pine for, will be all the sweeter when we can get on and do them rather than watch people do them on screens.

Part of the brand’s marking of its 200-year history, the film maintains the ‘keep walking’ ethos of past campaigns and looks forward to the opportunities the next 200 years could bring.

“Take it from me, I know what it’s like to be isolated from the world,” says Olivas at the film’s close, “Life will be full of possibilities again.”

Let’s drink to that.
