Cracking 'branded entertainment' works brilliantly when the product/service being advertised is intrinsically entwined in the themes of the story being told, rather than being the subject itself.
Such is the case in this lovely short from McCann Erikson Düsseldorf for eBay, in which a split-narrative both tells the tale of a man rebuilding the car of his youth and the fraternal history surrounding it.
Shot wonderfully by ANORAK FILM's Joanna Nordahl and DoP Erik Henriksson, and featuring gorgeous performances from the cast, A Second Chance both acts as a subtle fable around the act of repair (itself something that the part-finding functions of eBay is perfectly linked) and as an emotional short in its own right.
