As Harlow Monroe relives the journey she took to live as her most authentic self, Diesel lets her go through growing pains with fuzzy lighting and great outfits.
As a soft, lilting cover of My Girl (In the Pines) comes on, we meet Francesca, a young transwoman, as she moves throughout different stages in her life to become her most authentic, true self. We go from high school to college, and finally to the abbey, where she dons the traditional habit of the Catholic nun.
Sweet and kind, the film carries truth along with it. Francois Rousselet, the director, treats the main character as someone in total command of their story, centering her in almost every shot. Agency Publicis Milan gave the concept room to breathe and obviously trusted Harlow to bring her own vision to the work.
