As the camera rides in and out of tight apartments on the back of a drone, modern ballet dancers create an intricately edited performance.
Creating an almost magical landscape out of constraint and limited space, dancers move within apartments, backyards, and rooftops, performing for a single, droning spectator. The choreography of Valsa de Apartamentois constrained, blocked in on all sides by walls and (on one occasion) a car taking up half of a garage.
Commissioned by the Parana State Government, Through the Window was directed by Dirceu Saggin and João Marcelo and produced by Estúdio Trilhas Urbanas. The dance was set to Jazz Suíte nº2 – 6. Waltz II, by Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich.
