Opening with a tenor singing La donna e mobile from Verdi's opera Rigoletto, the film features some fancy footwork from a slinky squad of ballet dancers busting brilliantly choreographed soccer-style moves.
The campaign message is to demonstrate how the multi-platform media brand offers more than just sport, enriching consumers with extra knowledge of culture, history, geography, foreign languages and more.
With the the aria's lyrics swapped out for sport references, the ad ends with the line, ‘If you think the catenaccio (a defence move in football) is an Italian opera, it’s about time to subscribe to L’Équipe’.
