This new film created by King James for Corona + Parley aims to bring light to the 'street surfers' of Johannesburg.
Directed by Eyeforce's Arthur Neumeier [who recently wrote a piece about how to shoot in 20 foot waves] the street surfers of Jo'burg are a regular sight on the streets, making their living through sorting and recycling plastic found on the roads. They are contributing to the betterment of the environment and helping the dire need of recyclability in South Africa - where only 10% of waste generated is recycled.
In the film, big wave surfer Frank Soloman connects with street surfers Mokete and Thabo - who invite him to tag along with them for a day.
Mokete and Thabo work tirelessly from 3am through to the evening, collecting and sorting rubbish in harsh conditions, including amongst city traffic. They live with no electricity and no running water, but the work they are doing daily is saving plastic from polluting our oceans, pollution which Frank is all too aware of.
Frank invites Mokete and Thabo with him to see the ocean for the first time and see first hand how the work they're doing is keeping our waters clean and our planet in a better place.
