Combining bright animation and funky rebel grrl style, Vow, a charity dedicated to reducing the number of child brides married every year, has released Rebellion, a new spot dedicated to issue awareness.
Rebellion starts out with a young girl bursting out of a church, throwing away their veil and ring, and then moving on to break down the structures that are holding her friends in abusive and illegal marriages. She kicks down houses, pulls another girl out of a tower, and skates across a hilly neighborhood. It’s a delightful animatic that reflects the youth of the children that Vow works to protect.
Strange Beast recruited animator Bianca Beneduci Assad to help out with the ad, matching it to the previous Vow spot, an equally poppy and empowering piece. With a clear message and a cause that might be overlooked in more affluent countries, director Parallel Teeth creates an engaging and spirited advert that showcases girls being empowered, saving themselves and each other.
