In a multi-ad, cross-media publicity stunt, BBH has revealed that behind every single Whopper shown on screen, televisions, and in ads in the UK...there was a Big Mac.
Poking fun at the longstanding rivalry between Burger King and MacDonalds, A Whopper of a Secret has thrown some serious shade at their competition. They placed a Big Mac behind ever ad, showing off behind the scenes footage taken from ads produced throughout the entire year. The video is brilliant, subversive, and meticulous.
Because even a grade school student can tell you that if you place your thumb in front of the sun it doesn’t stop it from being massive, the ad was clearly done to promote a bit of press, more of a friendly joshing in between friends and rivals. Crafted entirely by BBH London and kept secret for (likely) over twelve months, the reveal is a feat of trust and production details, shown across a full calendar year of ad development and delivery.
