Whatever we might go through in life, from the pressures of parenthood to dealing with a diagnosis, healthcare provider Bupa’s message is clear: a problem shared, is a problem halved.

With sensitive direction from Chris Fowles, these powerful short films introduce us to two characters, Liam and Tina, who share their worries and concerns with us, inspired by the experiences of real Bupa patients. Through subtle, cinematic footage paired with powerful and emotive narrations, Fowles tells two human stories that feel intimate and incredibly authentic.

Not only do the spots address mental health issues, they tackle complex and delicate situations less often seen on screen. We hear Liam’s experiences of postnatal depression, which is so often only represented from a mother’s perspective, and observe Tina’s anxieties around going on a long-anticipated summer holiday after surviving breast cancer.

"I’m so grateful to have been able to work on such a meaningful campaign," Fowles explained. “The subject matter is important to me, and it was clear from the beginning the client wanted these to be real stories, told authentically. We spent a lot of time in research, speaking to patients and looking for details that might not have often been talked about on screen.”
