A collaboration between writer/producer Yoav Segal and Cub Animation Studio, the opening sequence for Sky’s new documentary series is an enthralling piece of animation reminiscent of the work of the great graphic designer of the 40s and 50s, Saul Bass.
Paying homage to Bass's classic posters for the films Anatomy of a Murder or Vertigo, the opening titles of Once upon a time in Londongrad have a simple white, black and blue colour palette with a stand-out bright red running like a ribbon through it.
The alluring visual style adds to the intrigue of the series, which explores 14 mysterious deaths in the UK and charts the uncomfortable relationship between the UK's reliance on Russian money and the missed opportunities to contain Putin.
