As Above is chemistry in motion

Watching As Above, Roman Hill's mesmerising short, you could be fooled into thinking you're viewing clever special effects from a space-bound, sci-fi blockbuster.

The reality is all the more impressive and intriguing - Hill's film is a single shot filmed on the 8mm2 (0.3 square inch) surface of a chemical reaction.

Shot with Red Helium camera in 8K at ultra small scale with a Venus optics Laowa 25mm ultra macro lens, the film's movement was created by making the fluid move, as it’s nearly impossible to reach fine camera movement at this scale.

Backed by Thomas Vanz's hypnotic music, As Above is a refreshing eye-bath from the uncertainty of today's world.
