“I have no idea what normal is, I think actually we all have some kind of disability,” so says Edgardo Velez, the leader of Artshare, displaying the non-judgemental attitude that so nurtures the budding artists he supports.
Directed by Zen Pace through Brickhead and shot on 16mm by and DP Peter Pascucci, True Colors is a touching film about the safe space Velez has made for people who can’t always express themselves verbally but can communicate through making art.
The film not only celebrates the power of their work but is touching portrait of an inspiring big-hearted man.
Artshare is a subsidiary of HeartShare Human Services of New York, which nurtures and empowers children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through education, training, employment, residential support and health care services.
