This short animated film focuses on the Five senses, showing visually how each one is supposed to make you feel in the moment.
The ‘e’s of see become eyeballs, the ‘a’ of hear becomes an ear, pressed close to the ground as textured balls roll over an uneven surface. Each new sense brings a new color palette and unique animations, clever and hypnotic. A hollow, fabric touch collapses on itself, smoke and smells rise through the air, and bright textures coat the tongue made from the ‘a’ of taste.
With fascinating techniques and just enough focus to allow you to recognize the layers of animation happening, director and animator Sebastian Helene has created a sensual visual film. Five is engrossing, and it’s just strange enough to merit a second, or even a third, watch.
