The aim of this near-four minute film, which was directed by Marius Holst at Fantefilm Norway, is to challenge biases, confound expectations and highlight the inequality still faced by LGBT people across the world.
Based on Amnesty’s historic ‘Love is a Human Right’ tagline, the film, which was shot in both Norway and on-location in Morocco, follows the activities of two men which is seen as illegal by over 60 countries, governments, and lawmakers across the world.
“To love the one you love is a human right, but when it comes to the rights of LGBT people, we still have a long way to go," said Camilla Kolverud at Amnesty International Norway. "That’s why we wanted use this year’s Pride marketing to show the contrast between love, and the cruel laws and attitudes across the world."
The film was created by Jens-Petter Aarhus, Jens Bjørklund, Kasper Amundsen Tuvnes, and Hallvard Fjellbraten at Anorak Oslo. “We wanted to tell a story that would make people feel love, whether you like boys, girls, or both," said Aarhus. "And through that, remind people that far and wide, people live in fear for the love they feel”.
