Aldi sells Wonka carrots
Kevin returns as the supermarket chain’s beloved root veg mascot in a gloriously detailed Willy Wonka-themed spot.

powered byLast year McCann Manchester delivered a Home Alone-style story, now Kevin’s back for his eighth year in an adventure set in a certain William Conker’s gravy-filled Christmas factory.
Along with such fruity characters as Greedy Gluttonous Grape, Sulky Sour Rhubarb and Mischievous Kiwi, Kevin is the last veg standing in a competition to win the coveted “cheese to the factory."
The pun-stuffed ad is packed with wondrous word play and contains vaguely naughty references to “trumpeting sprouts”, visible “plum cracks”, and – in what has possibly become a seasonal tradition for Aldi – the knob gag. See if you can find it in the heartfelt closing scene between Kevin and the conker-headed Wonka dude.
Jemma Townsend, Marketing Director at Aldi UK commented: “Christmas is made magical by coming together and sharing the joy of celebration even in tough times – just like Kevin wants to with his Christmas wish. It wouldn’t be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot on our TV screens."
