“People think I’m a shoe,” says the one-time singles champion and two-times Grand Slam winner in this fun film produced by RSA Films.
Now 74, Stan Smith enjoyed a successful career on the court between the 1960s and 1980s and signed with adidas to endorse their Haillet shoe in 1973. The latest iteration of the shoe – later to become known as the Stan Smith – is the Superstan, which incorporates elements of the heritage sneaker, adidas Superstar.
Echoing this blend of old and new, the spot, Superstan, employs a fun split-screen edit comprising digital film that showcases the urban, Superstar stylee, and affectionate documentary footage, shot on 16mm, featuring Smith relaxing at his home in South Carolina.
The campaign was created by HYPEMAKER, the creative agency of HYPEBEAST.
