Mirroring the struggles of a web designer, If Life Were Like Webdesign imagines a world where even the simplest tasks become overworked, strange, and entangled.
Even if you’re not a web designer you can commiserate with the feelings of frustration and confusion you experience when something that was working just fine two seconds ago is no longer working fine at all. Interpreting common errors, problems, and design problems as real-life issues in an office space. If Life Were Like Webdesign is a very funny take on how hard coders, designers, and engineers work to keep the web running smoothly and, hopefully, without errors.
“It’s a spot for designers, but anyone who’s ever tried to make a website or use subpar software will get it,” says writer/director Brian L. Perkins. “Bad software won’t let you do even the simplest things. It breaks your mind. If the real world operated like that you’d go crazy.” With a restrained physicality to the humor, the Webflow spot really emphasizes the immediate, real-world-ness of the problems. The piece was led by the full-service production company, Where the Buffalo Roam.
