Masks might have stopped the spread of the virus, but they also stopped deaf and hard-of-hearing people from being able to read lips and communicate.

Forced into an isolation of silence as well as distance, many people struggled to communicate throughout the global pandemic. In The Mask, a young man tells his story, but also speaks about reliance. This PSA from NHS Greece really highlights the importance of wearing a mask, from someone who lost the ability to speak when the world masked up.

With muted sound design that really stresses the loneliness that deaf people have had to endure, The Newtown Laboratory has developed a campaign that makes empathy easy. The piece was directed by Giorgos Zafiris and produced by Stefi&Lynx.
