Mercedes-Benz: Justify Nothing
D.A.R.Y.L. direct cheery films for Mercedes-Benz promoting the joy of a fancy-dress dad and public snogging.
Helmed by directing duo D.A.R.Y.L., produced by Pulse Films and created by Mercedes’ AOR, antoni garage, these fun films accompany the launch of the Mercedes B-Class with the message that these days you don’t have to justify anything. Providing, of course, you're not doing anything much worse than being one of those cool dads that rocks up at the school gates dressed as a fairy princess.
The films are available in variable lengths: a two-minute version can be found online, while the one-minute TV spot (above) features a day in the life of a university professor who helps his daughter out by taking his baby grandson to work with him. In addition there are three 30-second TVCs that are variants of the longet spot, and include Costume, about the aformentioned dressing-up dad – a younger version of the Prof – and Kiss, in which a loved-up 'pregnant' couple snog in public.
The stories are slickly edited with great music: The TV spot and the online short versions featuring the song "L.U.V." by the indie-pop band Catholic Action from Glasgow. The online version has music composed by British indie star Orlando Weeks.
