Boots' Christmas campaign, which celebrates the magic of gifting through the prism of a mother and daughter's relationship, is giving us all the feels.

Created by Ogilvy UK, the heartwarming TVC follows the story of Clare and her daughter Molly in the build-up to Christmas. There are some nice comic moments - Clare trying and failing to put her daughter's hair in a fancy up-do; Molly heading out partying with a full face of makeup and being silently reprimanded by her mum who hands her a makeup removal wipe - which demonstrate the reality of life with a self-centred teenager, but the emotional punch comes when Molly catches sight of Clare singing in a Christmas choir and witnesses a different, more confident and glamorous side to her mother. Cue a trip to Boots to pick up the perfect present: a sassy red lipstick.

Directed by Frank Todaro though Moxie Pictures, the spot is one of those classic Christmas commercials which tugs unashamedly at the heartstrings, while the choice of soundtrack - a reworking of Robbie Williams' She’s The One to She's Me Mum - comes off as clever rather than cheesy.
