OVO Energy has taken a swing at Donald Trump in the next phase of its campaign encouraging people to create a sustainable energy system.

A series of covertly-shot photographs and a video 'leaked' onto social media today appear to show the US President smashing up solar panels with a golf club.

But although that blond bouffant looks convincing (and it's the sort of unhinged behaviour we've come to expect from The Donald - probably the most high-profile denier of climate change), it's actually a clever hoax concocted by Uncommon Creative Studio and the queen of lookalike images, Alison Jackson.

A provocative follow-up to the Andreas Nilsson-directed launch film [below], which was released last week, the second iteration of the campaign makes the point that not even world leaders, who have the power to make the wrong decisions on behalf of the entire planet, can stop the movement towards renewable energy.

“We're taking a stand against politicians and high-profile individuals who stand in the way of sustainable progress by unequivocally supporting fossil fuels and denying climate change," says Sarah Keegan, brand director, OVO Energy. "We're making the point that if you're against what they for stand for when it comes to powering our planet, we're with you.”

The content, which will run on social media, paid digital and authorised fly-posters across London, continues the brand's ‘Power your life differently’ platform, which aims to empower people to join OVO Energy in its quest to create a sustainable energy system, by signing up or switching to renewable electricity.

“Legislation and politics have the power to create change but often don’t," adds Nils Leonard, founder and CCO, Uncommon London. "The right image can make someone pick up the phone. If all of the stories around climate change aren’t motivating enough to provoke a change, then the decisions being made by some world leaders on our behalf should be.”
