This International Women's Day, METRO and Serviceplan Campaign Hamburg have vowed to support female entrepreneurs.
In a recent study published by METRO, almost half of women aspire to have their own business some day. However, only 12% of these women believe that they can actually achieve this dream, with many fearing that they lacked the financial support to carry it out.
So, METRO decided to take action and give women a head start in becoming business owners with their Own Business Girl campaign.
Organized by Serviceplan, the initiative gifts newborn baby girls born today - on International Women's Day - in Dusseldorf, home of METRO's headquarters their very own business cards. The babies will receive a €2,000 fixed-term deposit that can be accessed on their 18th birthdays.
Emma: One of the future entrepreneurs.
In order to put this plan into action, Serviceplan spread the word via the daily press, radio spots, out-of-home surfaces and social media to locate the girls eligible for the Own Business Girls; even the hospitals in Dusseldorf and the Union of Midwives were involved!
"#OwnBusinessGirls METRO believe in the female entrepreneurs of tomorrow,” says Serviceplan's global CCO Alexander Schill, who's also the creator behind the campaign.
