For Big Sync Music’s ECD and co-founder, Andy Stafford, hearing is perhaps a more important sense than sight. So it stands to reason that his photo-journal of a recent business trip to New York comes with its own soundtrack. Pop on the headphones and scroll down for an audio-visual treat...

.30: Today I’m being filmed at Condé Nast for something so secret that if I told you I’d have to actually kill you, which would be tricky as there are so many of you. I can confirm however that it has nothing to do with food, travel or golf and I’m definitely not meeting Anna Wintour, although I am wondering what the hell to wear that fits in with the strict colour palette I’ve been issued. I also fear for my weathered music biz skin – not sure how that will turn out in my close-up.  Audio inspiration is definitely necessary, cue morning song.

.30: On my way to the station.  Looking upwards in NY never fails to inspire -  especially when you have this old jam blasting through your headphones.

.20: Quick tourist detour to absorb a hugely important piece of music history - Tin Pan Alley. You could blink and you’d miss it but it was once home to some of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century.  Obviously it would be rude not to pay quick homage to one of its most prolific - the great Irvin Berlin - this time sung by Ray Charles.

.59: I’ve arrived. Definitely not nervous. Definitely not listening to this to keep the heart rate down...

.30: And… action!

.45: I’ve just been played this. What could we be talking about?

.00: I’m done but my day certainly isn’t.  I need to pop in to see these great guys for a catch-up and to hear some new tunes. Big news is afoot, including some super talented acquisitions...

.00: I have a lot of hometown love for Domino records, so the invite to see Wild Beasts at the one of the coolest venues in NY (Baby’s Alright) is too hard to turn down - and their new tracks are sounding BIG.

.00: Merrily making my home from the gig, I spy a bust New York fire hydrant.  I manage to resist an unorthodox rehydration pit stop, but I do feel like I’ve stumbled into a movie set - although maybe it’s just me...
