BBH has done the unthinkable: combined TV-show characters with characters from adverts.
Ally McNab – the famous owl behind the Virgin Media ads – joins the cast of Netflix series Orange Is The New Black for a spin-off campaign.
As of last year, Netflix revealed that Virgin Media is its preferred streaming provider and offered Branson’s company the chance to celebrate the release of Season Three – by being one of the first UK brands to create exclusive branded content.
BBH’s innovation director at BBH, Jeremy Ettinghausen, says: “It stars characters from a TV show interacting with characters from an advertising campaign, in an advertising campaign for a TV show, a broadband provider and a subscription entertainment service.
“Is this a new content type? We don’t know. Is it interesting? We think so, maybe simply because we can’t put it in a box.”
The two minute clip sees McNab visit the Orange girls at Litchfield Federal Prison where she ruffles some featherswith the other inmates… (Pun intended).
