In his satire on 80s excesses, Money, the famously fag-loving author Martin Amis evokes the hopeless, vice-like grip of the habit – that even with a ciggy on the go, the smoker is never satisfied – is constantly craving the next one.

"Unless I specifically inform you otherwise," says Money’s dissolute anti-hero John Self, "I'm always smoking another cigarette."

With creative from Acento Advertising and Martin Allias, founder of the mixed-media directing collective Brut, this gorgeous looking Spanish-language film follows the story of Jackson, an ever-puffing addict haunted by a malevolent toxic smoke cloud of his own making.

In a swirling mash-up of 40s noir, anime and pop-art superhero aesthetics, the film depicts Jackson battling the cravings till he’s finally freed – in an almost Christ-like ascension – to rise above the cloud. The tagline reads, 'every attempt counts – keep fighting'.
