In two animated placements, both clocking at just twenty seconds each, giffgaff shows how bad choices can be avoided if you just look at the warning signs all around you. It’s the small details that matter and the animation studio, Truba, delivers effective coloring and expression with characters that we only see for a few seconds.
Using horror tropes and relying on brand awareness, giffgaff is serving us ten kinds of Halloween stories in less than half a minute. Stink Studios has done a great job with the concepts, relying on tried-and-true imagery of horror films to play up how easy the right choice can be. One short, Your Turn [above], has a young man encounter an obviously possessed game, and, instead of playing, he throws it out the window, happily returning to his video game instead.
Your Destination [below] shows two young ladies on a roadtrip stopping at a spooky haunted house, complete with a mummified nun, Leatherface-style killer, and zombies, before backing up fast and peeling out of the driveway. Following up on previous Halloween marketing traditions, such as 2AM, When You're Scared, You're Not in Control, and Chain of Scares, giffgaff gives us something new with Truba's short animatic stylings, embracing the fun and whimsy of Stink Studio’s ideas.
