This heartfelt spot, directed by Madeline Clayton through Curfew, follows a young woman through a year of her busy life in the city, framed within the moving narration of a little girl’s letter to Santa.
Although at first she appears incredibly normal, we can’t help but begin to notice the protagonist's subtle resemblances to Father Christmas. She carries her mail in a sack, enjoys cookies and milk, and her cheeks turn a bright, rosy red when she exercises - even her dogs resemble a pack of reindeer.
As Christmas comes around, we see her donate a wooden train to Toys For Tots, and realise that her gift will end up under the tree of the narrator.
In writing her letter, the little girl was unwittingly appealing to an everyday hero whose inner Saint Nick couldn’t help but shine through, proving that anyone really can be Santa to a child in need.
