Considering the time of year, we're hardly short of sale-related advertising, but few companies are bold enough to have their bargain mascot cause more damage than they save.

Thankfully, the cardboard hero of Scandinavian retailer NetOnNet is more endearing than imposing, using his mighty powers to help shoppers in the Street and Museum save on their purchases.

With a strong idea from Forsman&Bodenfors brought wonderfully to life by Immigrant's Torben Kjelstrup, this boxy superstar might just be the hero we all need.

“Of course, we get to play with the cinematic arsenal of action movies, which I always enjoy, but really the thing I loved most was the idea of a superhero causing all this mayhem and destruction in pursuit of saving some random Joe a couple of bucks on a toaster," explains Kjelstrup. "To me, that’s hilarious.

“I’ll admit that while the core idea of the campaign was what drew me in, I really relished the experience of developing a character; its personality, its shape, its movement, its expressions.

"It was important to me from the start that it wasn’t just CG. Happily, team Forsman and NetonNet were very much on the same page there. We wanted it to be a bit klutzy, to feel real and a wee bit homemade.”
