Created and directed by Marcus Storm, The 10th of April follows photographer Thron Ullberg on his creative journey to develop a series of photos, taken on the same day every year since 1996.

The monochrome portraits on which the film is based explore life, relationships, and what we leave behind when we die.

The documentary is composed of black and white interview scenes that mirror the stylings and themes of the artwork, combined with hazy, coloured footage shot outdoors in the dusky woodlands that inspired many of his photographs.

Interspersed with shots of Ullberg's work, we see close-ups of his creative process, the delicate scratching of dates onto camera film, and an artistic time lapse intensified by the ominous red glow of the darkroom.

The project allowed Storm to delve back into his creativity and take complete control of its direction, after years of working in commercials. The two met in Sweden at an industry event and bonded as artists, ultimately creating the film together.
