Imploring the human race to treat the current global crisis as an opportunity to change for the better, Indian author and political activist Arundhati Roy's powerful essay The Pandemic is a Portal is visually realised in this striking short for Global Goals.
Using animation and scrapbook-style imagery, the film brings Roy's words to the fore - emphasising each beat with eye-catching accompanying visuals.
The short film was coordinated by Project Everyone, a not-for-profit agency started by Richard Curtis working to put the power of communications behind the UN’s Global Goals, and narrated by up and coming British actress and composer, Amaka Okafor, with music from Icelandic film score composer Biggi Hilmars.
