Shot in stark black and white and attention-grabbing from the get-go, The Corner Shop director Malakai's fascinating and timely doc A Revolutionary Act has a story to tell.
Diving into the life and legacy of Black Panther leader Chairman Fred, the film, commissioned by Participant Media (makers of Judas and the Black Messiah), is a passionate investigation and compilation of authentic narrators; matched by some gorgeous photography of the Chicago area sitting alongside fascinating archival footage.
As well as detailing the freedom fighter's impact, the documentary also aimed to draw attention to the immortalisation of Hampton House, Chairman Fred Hampton’s childhood home, as a landmark and community centre in Chicago. You can see the GoFundMe here.
