Telstra has launched a new brand platform, called Wherever We Go and, with it, comes a beautiful new TV spot which is charmingly distinctive.
Created by Bear Meets Eagle Sydney and directed by Riff Raff directing duo Smith & Foulkes, the spot, called Duet, follows an easygoing man and his shapeshifting friend as they traverse different, wondrous locations - from rainforests and cave systems to deserts and underwater idylls - all the while cheerfully whistling the Bee Gees-written track Islands in the Stream.
With animation and post production by Black Kite Studios London, the 60-second spot is a calming and stylish oasis in a world of overstimulation.
“If you want to change how people feel about your brand, you have to change how the brand feels," said Brent Smart, Telstra’s Chief Marketing officer. "This work captures the spirit of optimism and promise of partnership that we want the Telstra brand to be all about. We want to show that the biggest brands can also be the most imaginative.”
“I’m just proud of all the folks who’ve cared so hard to make this work,” added Micah Walker, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Bear Meets Eagle On Fire. “It’s not that often you get to make work this considered and crafted, and to do it at this scale, is just really rare.”
If you want to know more about Duet, Smith & Foulkes and the artists at Black Kite will be pulling back the animated curtain on the making of the spot later this week.
