This sweetly comic film created by Vilnius agency Milk deftly captures the affection between a couple of ornery oldsters.
Produced by Some Films and directed by Axel Laubscher, with cinematography from Fredrik Bäckar, the film, Christmas, follows the bickering neighbours’ endless complaints about each others trumpet playing, dog walking, vacuuming and so on.
With all the complaints delivered by truculent texts, when one stops messaging over the festive period, the other frets and misses the contact.
Set to the perfect song – Jackie DeShannon’s 1965 hit, What The World Needs Now Is Love – the film subtly highlights the issue of loneliness among elders and delivers a happy ending with just the right balance of sweetness and gentle humour.
