With a single, practical four-minute take, Zack Grant captures details of a life fully lived, but maybe not ever really known.
Inspired and moved by a litany of voicemails discovered after his Grandfather’s death, Grant, an independent director, crafted this short film, narrated by his late relative. He says the film “explores the tension of childhood nostalgia and adult regret...through a recreation of my grandfather's home through a cautious and unfamiliar lens.”
Talk to You draws you in immediately, setting up expectations and then ignoring any clear ending, allowing multiple, open interpretations. The piece is full of heart and life, even as Talk to You memorializes a man who might not have ever known the impact he had.
