Starling Bank has launched its first ever above the line video campaign – a cinema advert titled ‘No Hidden Figures.’ Just launched in cinemas, the films explore our relationship with our spending habits, and feature a striking aesthetic of naked models with their personal expenses written on their bodies in bold ink.

No Hidden Figures encapsulates the brand’s dedication to helping its customers take control of their finances – owning their spending and seeing their money clearly. Initially developed as a performance marketing campaign, the series resonated well with consumers, with Starling opting to develop the initial series into a cinema advert. Post production for the advert came from Envy London and sound by Pitch & Sync.

The advert’s striking nature ties in with Starling’s disruptive approach to marketing within the fintech space. Focusing on values and issues close to their own team’s heart has driven a positive emotive response from Starling’s customers, which, coupled with their unique product offering, has helped the bank stand out from its competitors in the banking arena.

Commenting on the advert, Starling’s CEO Anne Boden comments:

“What we do as a bank is bold, so any advert we produced had to echo this. Clarity around finance is key to everything we do, and we’re delighted with the way this film brings that ethos to life – we’re looking forward to seeing it in cinemas.”

The film series follows Starling’s successful #MakeMoneyEqual campaign and Entrepreneur series. #MakeMoneyEqual pushed press to address the gender disparity in the way men and women are spoken to about their finances, while the Business Talks series saw Starling work with a number of high profile entrepreneurs including Otegha Uwagba, Liv Little and Dr. Sue Black to offer business owners unique tips and advice to help launch Starling’s business bank accounts.
