In an awesome spot of VFX brilliance, the Telstra-owned music tech arm, Sprout, announces its new mission to support and grow the struggling Australian music scene while promoting Briggs' emotive song.
Created by +61 with Bear Meets Eagle On Fire, and directed by Tom Noakes, through Scoundrel, the film is a visceral, deliciously gooey piece of work that blends the botanical with the biological in its depiction of the artist being ‘birthed’ from the arid red desert.
It draws its inspiration from Briggs’ own experiences and the determination it takes to break through in a tough musical landscape.
A blend of hip hop and heavy metal, Munarra heralds the launch of a new artistic direction for Briggs, who explains: “I wanted to push the boundaries with this song and the visuals. To tell a story about coming up in a hostile environment, where you’re not meant to be or grow.”
The song will be featured in a new ‘Homegrown Sound’ Spotify playlist, which aims to encourage Australians to stream more native talent.
