Appropriately coming out of ad agency 72andSunny, directed by Kinopravda from Imposter, Hang Out at Home is a joyful reminder of what we’re all suffering for.
In this bright, fourth of July themed party parade, filmed last year and re-edited for the current times, celebrities twerk, shake hands, and even eat out. The redubbed voice over is funny and ironic and provides some silly laughs. And look, when Laverne Cox says “Don’t stand so close to Megan. We need her,” we all know that she’s right.
As each person gets their own monologue, they reiterate, stay home...for America. The absurd, over-the-top production is absolutely killer, with flag booty shorts, a red white and blue schoolboy outfit that I would kill to own, and just absurd Americana thrown up like a pride parade. It’s joyful and exuberant and ridiculous, and Dave Bautista placed in a very small monster truck holding a puppy may be exactly what advertising needs right now.
