Singing along to Compal's country tune

Directed by PACO and produced by Major West, Over My Land was inspired by traditional Portuguese work songs.

Created in the fields during the harvest season, these folk songs are part of the cultural heritage of Portugal, and speak to a larger part of human experience. Compal employees, from farmers to truck drivers, are the singers and actors in this campaign. Since agricultural work songs are mainly rhythmic and sung acappella, the challenge for Major West was finding real people who could actually sing traditional harvest songs on camera.

Rural singing traditions aside, the piece takes us through three cities, and more than a few farms, working from the outskirts of the country to the fast-paced network of the city. The connection is immediate and charming, and the care taken throughout this ad feels genuine and authentic.
