French car manufacturer Renault leads an automotive revolution in this cleverly-crafted campaign, created by Publicis Conseil and directed by Sebastian Strasser through Henry.
Titled The Climb, the epic spot sees a hero climb a gigantic mountain made of old Renault cars. The mountain itself is a metaphor for the car industry from its origins in the early 20th century: a pile of gas-powered cars. The perilous climb illustrates just how difficult it is to bring about such a revolution in the industry.
The mountain was created by assembling around a hundred old Renault cars. It was 10 metres high and had 3 climbing faces. Like a real game of Tetris, the old Renault cars were assembled, paying particular attention to the shapes, colours and parts of the structure that would create impressive waterfalls.
The actor was supervised and doubled by an artistic director from Cirque du Soleil. Ambitious post-production extended the pile of cars to the scale of the world’s largest mountains, the result of cutting-edge post-production techniques and Artificial Intelligence by Lipstick studio.
