With the help of creative agency Grey and Oriental Films director Yupi Segura, Mexican NGO Reinserta has launched this powerful campaign, which presents the heartbreaking realities of women who give birth in prison.
The four-minute film tells the story of a group of women who traffic a package in prison, which turns out to be a candle, so a prisoner can celebrate her child’s third birthday. After blowing out the candle, the three-year-old is painfully taken from their mother.
The organisation, which is Mexico’s leading charity in emotionally and socially supporting children exposed to the justice system, created the campaign to celebrate Children’s Month and encourage donations to improve living conditions for female prisoners and their children.
