When Plank sent a bunch of furniture to Lucas Zanotto, I doubt this is what they expected him to do with it.
The ping pong ball bounces across the different planes of furniture, each shot captured in-camera until finally, the little ball lands in an orange cup. The setups in Plank get more and more absurd, with the ping pong ball bouncing in between stacked chairs, rolling down inclined tabletops, and rebounding off the backs of chairs. It’s utterly charming and simple but streamlined to a strangely mesmerizing perfection.
The clever film was directed by Zanotto, who was helped by his nephew, Manuel Markart. The end result seems well worth the 2000 takes.
