What the most creative advertising idea you’ve seen recently?

Nike FC presents Footballverse, I love their take on the age old conversation; 'who’s the GOAT?'. A fusion of past and present greats, notable and cult moments, with live-action and animation. The advert has great intersectional cultural blends like R9, Mbappe and Gouenji Shuuya; it’s like future nostalgia.

What website(s) do you use most regularly?

So, obviously we got Google and YouTube. Also, I love a bargain so I stay on eBay; crazy watchlist, everything from vintage football jerseys to Pokemon cards. I also find myself on Artsy and Opensea searching for artists.

What’s the most recent piece of tech that you’ve bought?

The last piece of tech was a Huion graphics tablet. I use it mainly to spruce up my treatments and learn a little graphic design.

What product could you not live without?

Coconut Oil.

What’s the best film you’ve seen over the last year?

Moonlight. Barry Jenkins was in his bag. This film grants such profound access to the protagonist's thoughts and emotions that it immerses you completely, as if you're experiencing them firsthand. It's an incredibly powerful and intimate portrayal. I was captured by the use of colour, sound and underlying messages, inviting multiple interpretations. Moonlight beautifully narrates a story that deserves greater recognition and, in a cinematic landscape where heterosexual white men frequently take centre stage, Moonlight stands as a refreshing departure from the norm.

What film do you think everyone should have seen?

The Lego Movie. It has layers that the whole family can enjoy. My son loved the animation, the action and the overall fun. It’s pretty hilarious, I found myself chuckling at the witty humour.

What’s your preferred social media platform?

Probably Instagram. Wait, does Whatsapp count? I guess it’s Whatsapp. To keep in touch with my Android family I have an intense sports group with all the mandem. We literally communicate everyday, and we’ve been interacting for over a decade, the receipts are wild.

What’s your favourite TV show?

Hmm… the ones that come to mind are How To Make It In America, Atlanta, Insecure... oh, Random Acts of Flyness. I guess with all of these shows there’s an element of relativity that I can connect to, a newness in their approach, be it through narrative or more technical elements of the project. How To Make It In America was gone way too soon. I was in America with [friends] Donnie Sunshine, Chia and Cktrl, experiencing our own little American dream in our early 20’s. NYC was like London’s older sibling, and we were living big city life; balancing partying and creating, it was like our version of Sex and the City. HMIA has a great cast and authenticity oozes throughout the show.

What’s your favourite podcast?

TwoTwos' podcast, hosted by Rose and Nana. TwoTwos bridges the gap between the straights and the queers. Great, progressive, funny, open conversations, and it challenges the status quo.

What show/exhibition has most inspired you recently?

Bar every Beyonce tour, I’d have to say [FREE?] The debut exhibition by unvrslnmd. His art is incredible and truthful. And Assata’s Chant and Other Histories by Nello and the People; the series uncovered stories from the Black liberation movement of the 60s/70s using oral histories, interviews, essays and audio documentaries.

If you could only listen to one music artist from now on, who would it be?

I’m going to say TDE [Top Dawg Entertainment]. Yes, the label; Kendrick [below], SZA, Sir and dem man. I could’ve just been Kendrick, however it’s all about family, so [record label] Dreamville is up there too.

If there was one thing you could change about the advertising industry, what would it be?

Trust the directors to execute the idea that they actually pitched. Miss me with the last minute changes.

Who or what has most influenced your career?

The same people that influence my life. My family, friends and peers. I have been privileged to be able to draw inspiration from those around me, especially when it comes to challenging my perceptions. It has definitely transferred into the way I create. 3000ceanhill goes without saying; creating a space and going on a journey, creatively and personally, with my two close friends Donnie and Chia definitely has - and continues to have - a massive influence on my career.

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know.

I’m a solid Beyonce fan 🐝
