A pair of teenagers are recruited as contact tracers show off their slick internet sleuthing skills and maybe teach the old guard a thing or two.

As the New South Wales Covid team faces increased cases, they hire the best in the digital tracing business to try to help them get it under control. What they’re not prepared for is a pair of fast-talking, lingo-dropping, teenage girls who come in like a jilted ex-girlfriend with a hacking hobby and use social media to help them connect the dots.

The Contact Tracys delivers scream-worthy jokes for a solid two minutes, and it’s perf. Witty and weird, most of the extremely Internet dialogue can be parsed with context clues, and the rest you’ll have to rely on a Twitter search to understand. The morals are clear; stay home, get rid of your internal biphobia, and never underestimate a teenager with a smartphone.

As well as directing Jenna Owens and Victoria Zerbst (of Freudian Nip fame) star as the disaffected teens. The sketch itself was written by Bec Shaw and Nina Oyama for The Chaser’s War on 2020, a set of comedy sketches created by Australia’s “most unavailable satirical talent.”
