Stop-frame animation, as a technique, is intrinsically linked to the festive period - from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to Wallace and Gromit.
Whilst not utilising the technique in practice, Leo Burnett and Passion Animation Studios' gorgeously realised Archie The Reindeer for McDonald's nails the aesthetic, filling the screen with tonnes of tiny imperfections and details, tricking the eye into perceiving it as a tangible, tactile creation.
Directed by collective againstallodds (with live action moments by Outsider's James Rouse), this cute tale of the titular Archie, brought to life by young girl Ellie’s imagination, is a real winter warmer.
