Twelve years ago, Marks & Spencer got us all hot under the collar with the launch of its This is not just... campaign, featuring delicious visuals of an oozy, melt-in-the-middle chocolate pudding, accompanied by a seductive voice-over.
Now, together with its agency Grey London, the supermarket has brought back its infamous 'food porn' campaign, but added a fun twist. In the spot, a series of M&S customers are distracted from their daily routines by new, droolworthy food, which they are compelled to describe in the sultry, indulgent manner of the original ads.
A train controller stops mid-platform announcement to wax lyrical about 'succulent M&S Scottish salmon', which catches her eye on a billboard across the tracks, while a technicolour TV ad for the brand's 'best ever trifle' interrupts a salesman's flow.
The spot was helmed by Guy Manwaring via Sonny London.
