Intimately helmed by JOJX’s Luke Jaden through Octagon Haus, this gorgeously-shot short film captures the real-life arrival of the director’s son, Hemingway.
Through subtle and sensitively-curated vignettes, the documentary records the raw and often unseen moments of the birthing process and postpartum experience without feeling at all intrusive, instead celebrating the beauty and vulnerability of the early days of motherhood.
On making the film, Jaden says: “I have always loved art that feels authentic and captures something raw and honest that feels almost un-filmable. There’s real magic and spirit when it comes to capturing something you can’t really prep for at all…It’s all intuitive.
My goal and intention were to capture the strength and beauty of motherhood and my wife, and the clear love and support for partnerships. I also wanted to really show what a “natural” childbirth looks like through an authentic lens as well as the postpartum phase.”
