In collaboration with creative agency Superunion, the London Symphony Orchestra has released this captivating short film through XK Studio, to promote its upcoming season at London’s Barbican Centre and St Luke’s.
Set to the sound of Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé Suite No 2, the spot, titled Strung Together, explores the connection between the Orchestra’s musicians and conductors, using motion-captured recordings of the conductor's movement during a performance.
The creative opens with a tangled ball of computer-generated metallic strings, each representing a musician in the Orchestra. As the music plays, the conductor’s motion-captured movements reverberate through the tangled golden mass, slowly unraveling it into a neat, fan-shaped formation, inspired by the shape of the seating arrangements at the Barbican Centre.
