Production company KODE has announced the launch of its new photography division, appointing Chris Sutherland as Head of Photo.

With over a decade of experience in photographic production and artist management, Sutherland brings a wealth of expertise to the role, marking a significant milestone in KODE’s expansion into photography.

Sutherland’s career journey, from Photographer’s Assistant to Photo Agent at Collective’s food and drinks division At Rare, has provided him with deep insight into lighting, creative execution, and delivering complex campaigns. During his time at At Rare, he connected photographers with globally recognised brands and developed a reputation for balancing creative and logistical demands with artist management.

Reflecting on his new role, Sutherland said: “I’m thrilled to be joining KODE at such an exciting time in its evolution. It’s a privilege to join a company renowned for pushing creative boundaries, and I’m eager to expand our photography division, nurture talent, and build a global roster that delivers powerful, resonant work. Together, we’re creating something unique as we explore new markets and craft visuals that resonate worldwide.”

KODE has been delivering photography campaigns for over five years, working with brands such as Nike, Aston Martin, Adidas, Spotify, Beats, TUI, and Monster Energy. The creation of a dedicated photography division, led by Sutherland, aims to spotlight individual photographic talent while providing seamless, full-service solutions.

“KODE Photo represents a commitment to making photography a permanent pillar of the company’s offerings,” Sutherland continued. “By leveraging KODE’s expertise in production and storytelling, this division is set to provide integrated campaigns with world-class talent and execution.”

Alex Harman, CEO and co-founder of KODE, highlighted the significance of this launch: “Over the past five years, we’ve seen a significant rise in requests for photography. Today, I’m thrilled to officially launch our stills division—a milestone that has been a true labour of love.

This journey has been about more than just meeting demand; it’s been about assembling the right team. Chris’ vision and decision to make KODE his creative home have been instrumental in bringing this to life. Together, we’re poised to make a mark not just locally, but globally.”

The KODE Photo roster features talent across disciplines including sport, food, fashion, and drink, with photographers such as Cara Cormack, Dirk Rees, Sam Neill, Dean Martindale, Joe Giacomet, Dora Paphides, and Lloyd Wakefield, who was recently named a Most Promising Photographer at the Creative Circle Awards.
